Initial Design Consultation
Step 1 for all our projects
TWO HOUR IN-HOME CONSULTATION
More than just a meet-and-greet, this fun meeting in your home is where we start, no matter what your project is. It’s a working consultation where we get down to brass tacks, diagnosing what’s not working in your home, taking measurements, looking through paint color fan decks, and making real decisions about how to make things happen for your home’s design.
Every project is different, so exactly what we focus on in this initial meeting depends on your goals. If all you need is a little professional advice so you can tackle the implementation of your project yourself, you’ll be good to go. If your project involves more than what can be solved in two hours, this meeting gives us the chance to better define, diagnose, and prioritize your project’s needs. Either way, you’ll leave our time together having made serious progress on transforming your home into your favorite place to be!

First, we have a phone call (on our dime!) to introduce us to each other and talk about your project. During this call, we’ll…
- Define up to three areas in your home to focus on during your consultation (if your project involves more spaces or your entire home, just let me know and we’ll work out a plan of attack that makes sense for your needs
- Identify goals and potential challenges
- Schedule your Initial Design Consultation
WHAT WE’LL COVER
During the 2-hour consultation, we’ll walk through your spaces together. You’ll take notes as we work on…
- Establishing a preliminary budget
- Space planning and furniture planning recommendations (we’ll provide rough sketches for you to keep)
- Specific paint color palette recommendations (up to three colors per area)
- Finish recommendations (flooring, wallcoverings, tile, cabinet color, countertops, etc.)
- Lighting recommendations (location and fixture type)
- Discuss potential options for completing your project (with our without or help)
WHAT IT COSTS
This service requires a one-time fee of $400.
Plan, Implement, Install
After our Initial Design Consultation meeting, many clients opt to move forward with us to complete their project. The majority of those projects are best handled under our Full-Service Design package.
Some Full-Service Design clients get excited about being more hands-on in their projects and we happily accommodate that. We love collaborating and aren’t afraid to let you in “behind the scenes,” going on showroom appointments with Terri to locations like our Dallas Market Center and having fun with a wide array of selections.
Other clients, however, would rather have us handle everything, and we’re happy to do that, as well. We know design projects can be beastly. All those details! All those decisions! It can be overwhelming – especially if you don’t have the time or the interest to give to your project yourself.
Whether you’re hands-on or not, with our tried-and-true design processes and systems in place, we make it all simple and fun for you. Problem-solving, narrowing selections, and acting as your “safety net” to keep your design choices, budget, or timeline from going off the rails are all smack-dab in the center of TMD’s wheelhouse.
This is where all of the hard work is done. We create preliminary space, lighting, and furniture plans, develop color palettes, and select furnishings, finishes, and fixtures.
IMPLEMENTATION & PROJECT MANAGEMENT
Once we’re all in agreement on the design plan and its details, bids and estimates from tradespeople and product vendors are collected. When everything is approved by you, we pull the trigger on product orders and scheduling trade services.
INSTALLATION & REVEAL
This is everyone’s favorite part! We get to see the fruits of our labor as your items are received into our warehouse. Then you get to see it all come together when we install and beautifully arrange everything in your home!

If we weren’t able to cover all of your project’s needs during our 2-hour Initial Consultation but your project doesn’t fit neatly into the Full-Service option, we can look into creating a custom service package that makes good sense for both of us.
